Finding an electrician you can trust to work in your home is important. You want someone who is properly qualified, reliable, straightforward to deal with and who will treat your home with respect.
Kerdon Electrical Ltd is a Which? Trusted Trader, providing homeowners in Yaxley, Peterborough and the surrounding villages with additional reassurance when choosing us for electrical work.
But what does being a Which? Trusted Trader actually mean, and how does it benefit you as a customer?
What is a Which? Trusted Trader?
Which? Trusted Traders is an endorsement scheme designed to help consumers find reputable tradespeople.
Businesses have to go through an assessment process before becoming endorsed. This includes checks covering areas such as business procedures, customer satisfaction, insurance and complaints processes.
Once endorsed, traders must continue to meet the requirements of the scheme and follow the Which? Trusted Traders Code of Conduct.
For homeowners, this provides an additional level of confidence when choosing someone to carry out work in their property.
What does the Code of Conduct mean for customers?

Being a Which? Trusted Trader is more than displaying a recognisable logo.
Endorsed businesses agree to follow a Code of Conduct covering areas including professional behaviour, clear communication, working within their competence, fair business practices and dealing with customer complaints appropriately.
Which? Trusted Traders can also monitor endorsed businesses to ensure the required standards continue to be met.
There is also a formal complaints process and access to independent Alternative Dispute Resolution if a disagreement cannot be resolved directly between the customer and trader.
Hopefully this is something our customers will never need, but it provides an additional layer of protection and reassurance when choosing a tradesperson.
Electrical fault finding and diagnostics
One of our main areas of work is electrical fault finding in Yaxley, Peterborough and the surrounding area.
Electrical faults can be frustrating. Your consumer unit may keep tripping, part of the house may suddenly lose power or you may have an intermittent problem that is difficult to pinpoint.
Fault finding is about more than replacing parts and hoping the problem disappears. We use electrical testing and a methodical approach to identify the cause of the fault before discussing the appropriate repair with you.
It is an area of electrical work we particularly enjoy and specialise in.
Consumer unit upgrades
We also specialise in consumer unit replacements and upgrades for homeowners.
Your consumer unit plays an important role in protecting the electrical installation within your home. Older installations may not provide the same level of protection available from a correctly designed modern consumer unit.
Before recommending an upgrade, we can assess the existing installation and explain what is required in straightforward terms.
Consumer unit replacement also involves appropriate inspection and testing, helping to ensure the installation is suitable for the new equipment.
Electrical testing and EICRs
We regularly carry out electrical testing and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) for homeowners.
An EICR provides an assessment of the condition of the fixed electrical installation and can identify deterioration, defects and potential safety issues that may not be obvious during everyday use.
It can be particularly useful if you have moved into an older property, are unsure when the electrics were last inspected or simply want a better understanding of the condition of your home's electrical installation.
We will explain our findings clearly and talk you through any work that may be recommended.
